Great help sorry to be a PITA but this is all new to me but I believe it could be very useful. How does tire rack let you pick colors of your car and change wheel/tire combinations?
BJ the tire rack emulator runs stocked photos - like what you see on manufacturer sites for both cars and wheels. They aren't creating a color each time -it's already loaded to the algorithm.
In photoshop you can only use the sample tool to pull the color but it can't account for pearls or metal flake style effect in paints. You effectively have to create it with brush tools.
Too bad we can't set up something like that on here. It would truly help to see our old trucks in stock and non stock colors (I get it there's millions of them and trillions of custom colors) and be able to see our rides with different wheel & tire combos. Both paint and wheels & tires can be significant financial outlays.
It is, but you need it to be closer to your desired color. White pearl to your red pearl is still a leap - it would look better, just not spot on. The path to the end result changes because you make a layer on top for the color change and then take the transparency down to allow the underlying features come thru.
The original pic you gave me was of a white panel and you can tell the overlying color is a bit flat. It's based on the starting sample.
emay,
I'm totally happy with what you came up with on the 56 Panel. I was just trying to figure out if there was a color more suited to trying to achieve the Ruby Red Metallic.
