Tail gate latch
On 73 F250 tail gate latch mechanism is so worn that the latching bars fail move enough to release from the catch plate.
Believe the pins and holes in the linkage are elongated causing excessive play.
There is no access plate on the inside surface.
How is this mechanism removed?

There should be four bolts (basic p/n 382127-s) on the inside surface of the tailgate that you unbolt to remove the handle/latch assy.

I bought the repo handle and it bent after less than 3 mos, if you can reuse your handle or find a NOS handle, do it. the clips and rods took up most of the slack anyways

From the exploded graphic looks like there are four separate metal to metal contact points.
1. handle hinge pins
2. handle notch
3. rotating device clevis hole
4. latch slot
looks like #1 & #3 are the most likely contacts for wear.
