Ordered a PHP Hydra. Any advice?

I finally have all the supporting mods for a chip installed and took the plunge on a PHP Hydra Chip after looking at them and the DP Tuner F5/F6 chips.

I should get it this Friday just in time for the weekend.

Some questions for the current owners of this setup...

1) Any advice on the install?

2) Also can I install the software on more than one laptop?

3) Can you install the tunes on the chip before putting it in the PCM?

4) What tunes would you recommend putting on? Are there some I shouldn't bother with? (I have stock HPOP and injectors)

5)What positions do you put each tune on? There's 17 total, but I don't think I'll use that many.

6)Where do you put the led switcher?

Thanks in advance guys...

That switcher is identical to DP tuner one.
Maybe someone with an f5/6 will chime in.

1. Take the ecu board out of the case and carefully scrape and clean the contacts of the j3 socket. Don't go overboard with the scotchbrite, the contacts aren't that thick

2. You could possibly store info on more than one laptop, the tunes are keyed to your chip serial number most likely, so no chance of putting them onto another chip.

3. You need to probably power the chip to get the tunes to load. I'm sure the directions will tell you if you can load tunes without power.

4&5. Depending on what you do for driving, setting 0 should either be no start, or stock if you have other drivers that don't need the extra power. It requires a special handshake to get out of 0 so we don't need to disclose that publicly. Setting 1 should be stock. Setting 2 can be a warmup tune, 3 is a 60hp towing tune, 4 is 80hp economy tune, 5 and 6 is the same as 4 because I don't like my high hp tune to be back to back with my other tunes and you don't want a stock tune to be the filler in my opinion. (You'll need to set the number of positions of the switcher when you set it up possibly. I set mine to 9 positions cause it was a bugger.)

6. Put it out of the way in my opinion. I don't need it in direct view, I know what tune I'm in.

Sorry for talking like it was mine, I have a DP tuner F6 which is near identical. Your programs available will be similar I'm sure.

He wanted to know where he can mount it, so, What I meant by that is... Someone with an f5/6 will chime in, and say where they mounted theirs, because it looks identical, so they can suggest a good place to mount or not to mount it.

Sorry, misunderstood you.

DP has a mount for theirs. It mounts to a gauge. VERY nice slick setup. Some times I wish I went that route instead of the pod switcher

Well I got it installed last weekend and I love it! I didn't realize how much of a difference it would make.
