Thats how much watts they can handle, if your looking to gain reception you will need a pre-amp....

There is a web site with reviews saying they can get 10 to 15 miles on a clear day using the 1000W antenna with a stock cb. I think that would good enough out on the salt flats. Do you think that is an honest estimate of the usable distance...or still add a pre amp?
