Anybody have any suggestions or pictures of superduty mirror mounts for a cb, my son wants some for Christmas and I'm looking and looking but I'm afraid I need help. Mounts and antenna's.
Curious too and subscribing. First thing that comes to mind is the ground problem since the mirrors are all plastic. You'll have to run a ground and I'm still not sure this will work very well.
i have mine on the antenna and it works perfect both sides are put in the same place and with the cb a cobra 29 wx nw st model with a good ground and good antenna's and cable i can get it calibrated down to about 1 to 1.5 and i can hear for a good 10 to 20 miles even more so times and i live in a hilly area.yes you also have to ground the mount i used a bolt under the hood on the side fender for that.i am running wilson antenna's,they are the flex-4 5/8 wave they are 4 foot long which gives you good reach over the truck which usually gives prople problems with not going high enuf to clear the cab,had that problem myself with different trucks in the past.but found that out by trial and error, right along with going with a really good antenna used to use the diesel brand but they are rigid nd kinda suck on the range.i just went out and took a pic of the mount i am using but can't seem to get it to post.it is on photobucket under smithrngr.i hope this helps
thanks bpounds i have to fix the cable i riped it off pulling in the mirror so i didn't get the mirror taken off while parked along the side of the road. pulled the mirror in then got out and closed the door and snap it broke.
i forgot to mention that they are just regular mirror mounts that i got some longer bolts and waher's for. i bought them from my local truck stop.i can't tell everyone enuf about good antenna's to get out and recieve like i said earlier that is key to a cb, i learned the hard way with about 20 to 30 different antenna's around. i like the wilson' because you can tune them easy. if you are going to run duels you are going to want to get a single cb cable for tuning, hook up the single cable to the cb and to 1 antenna and tune that antenna at the antenna by lengthening or shorting the antenna.then go to the other and do the same, then hook up the cb to the main cb cable and hook up the antenna's and then do a final tune for cal with the cb if you have a cb that has cal function on it.you will want to be out in a wide open area when all this is done i would say about a 100 to 200 ft away fron any electric or a house.
