Well the forecast looks REALLY good for this weekend....maybe Mother Nature isn't the psychopath that I've often accused her of being. Though know that I've been nice to her, she'll ruin next weekend. Oh this weekend, where am I going to be in all this forecasted beautiful weather you ask? That's right, I'm going to be working today...story of my life.

Anyone looking for a project? I know where a guy could pick up a '61 unibody short bed. Supposed to run and drive.
I don't have room for another project so the boss said I couldn't buy it.
Dude wants $1000.

Hey guys, back to working on the dreaded PSDs again Never got a chance to get back to the one I was asking questions about a while back, it's just an extra truck for a customer. Had another last week that was sorta puzzling. 2000 F550, 7.3 PSD. Started out as just a cold hard start problem (they were cranking it by running it on brake parts cleaner till it would pick up and run), not hard, replaced glow plugs and relay. Well, still no start In checking other things I found it had very low fuel pressure so I replaced the pump, still no start. Thought about it overnight, wondering what I was missing. Realized I wasn't hearing the relays and injectors when key was turned on, IDM was toast. Luckily the customer has another truck for parts available.
Now for a question, after sitting over the weekend the truck was hard to start this morning, in checking noticed that the hipop reservoir was low. Filled it and the truck fired right up. What would cause the oil to drain from the hipop reservoir?
Since this customer has three of these things it looks like I'm going to have to learn a little something about them, not looking forward to this

I can only speak for 6.0's but can you air test it for leaks? Sometimes the HPOP's on the 6.0's leak or develop a leak in the piping.

I would think if it had a leak in the piping I would see an oil leak somewhere, but there is none visible.

I don't know about the 7.3's but the 6.0 hpo system is internal and the leaks aren't visible, they just go back to sump. If it's not difficult to pressure up the system with shop air it might be worth a shot. You might also jump up in the 7.3 forum and ask one of those guys.
