electrical issues
Good morning everyone.
So I went to start up my Ex this morning to go to work, and it was dead, no power at all. It had been parked since Friday afternoon, and nothing (lights, or other equipment had been left on).
The truck has two new batteries (less than 2 months old), a new Alternator (less than a month old), and my gauge says that I am running at 13.2 volts...
Anyone have any ideas why the power would be gone? I keep the truck heater plugged in at night, as it helps with the early morning cold starts. I did notice what could be some rodent droppings under the hood, could mice be eating wires? I have never seen these before, and I am thinking that something may have decided they like the warmth of my plugged in truck...
Any help or even directions to look would be helpful.
Thanks!

David, if this were a 7.3L PSD rig I'd tell you to check your fuel bowl heater fuse. A short blowing that fuse has frequently caused the same problem for the 7.3 rigs that you're having. However, since you have the 6.0L PSD, I have no clue.
I'm gonna move this over to the 6.0 forum so the guys can help get you squared away.

It is an 03 Excursion, with just over 88K on it. I talked with a local mechanic, and he seems to think it could be the glow plug controller. He has given me some tests to to to see if this is the issue. I just hope there are no rodents involved, as that could become a true nightmare!
As far as the rodents are concerned, I had this issue with my old Suburban a couple of years ago, pick up one of those ultrasonic plug in rodent deterrents. Plugged one of those in next to my truck after fixing some injector wiring. Seems (fingers crossed for the last 2 years) to have been working on deterring the rodent population from living in my truck.
At the hight of rodent population, we had mice escaping from under the hood at 60 MPH on the freeway. It's amazing how long mice can hold on to a windshield... Who'd have thought?
