It's a '83 F150 c6/4x4.. I wiped the forward clutches in my transmission over the weekend and I'm going to swap it out with a good used one I acquired.
What seals do I need for mating up the transfer case to the replacement trans?
I just want whatever the minimum is for a replacement, it looks to me like there's a big paper gasket that goes between the trans and t-case but but I don't know what it's called to look it up at rockauto.
Besides that big paper gasket, are there any other seals between the two?
Yes, on the flange for the t case. You will have to pull the pump to get the seal off and back on. There is also a seal for the torque converter up front.
The transfer case is sealed, but the rear of the trans is not. It depends on the gasket or RTV to keep the fluid from leaking out between the 2.
When dropping the transfer case, it is normal for a bit of ATF to come out from between these items.
The fluid is not shared between them, but they do both use the same kind of fluid.
