Projector Headlights

Assuming that I want projector headlights ( not everybody's cup of tea), what would you recommend ?

Who has pics ?

Did you pair these with euro style taillights ?

Are you talking about buying them or making them? Making them wouldn't be to hard, but not really worth it IMHO.

What about standard HID kits? I've been thinking about doing that to the ex. Needs more lighting for these winter nights.

I used these before building a custom offroad light bar for my hummer. Used three kits and had zero issues and boy did that thing light up the night.

I'm probably going to be using the same kit in 6000K for the excursion.
Sportva Motors 9007 Single Beam HID Xenon Ivory 55 Watts SLIM Conversion Kit

I figured better to have a 55W simple single beam kit that deal with a mechanical Highbeam. Honestly I think the 55W HIDs will be so much brighter than the halogens that high beam will be redundant anyway. I eventually plan on wireing up some HID offroad lights to my bumper that'll turn on with the highbeam.

I've been using the 35W BI-Xenon kits from DDM tuning for several years on my Ex with the factory housings and couldn't be happier with how bright they are. I did have to realign my headlight as they were to high but that's it. I've also installed several of these kits for friends in F150's and a few cars and all have been satisfied with them. As far as Euro Style tail lights I personally don't like the look and have my factory tails that have Whelen Vertex LED's in the tail and reverse area for warming lights. LED marker, stop, tail and reverse are on my to do list someday.

Holy cow - the prices on these HID kits is insanely low. I may have to put them in my Ex. I've been using the Philips X-treme power and have been fairly happy but they don't compare to the HIDs in my wifes vehicle.

You guys are bad influences. I was gonna wait and do it later but you got me thinking about how cheap the prices are right now and I just ordered a set...thanks a lot.

I use the 6000k from DDM. They are the whitest natural color. Also the Bi-Xenon kits come with a relay harness that power the ballast directly from the battery. If your not going with Bi-Xenon or putting lights in the driving light I recommend getting the HD relay wiring harness.

I got the sportivas I linked to. I've used them before with good results. The thin ivory colored ballasts. I think it all boils down to the quality of the ballasts... 6000k as I don't like any color in my lights pure white looks classy, once they start bluing it looks cheesy IMO. I actually prefer yellowish to blueish. Coming from ca so should get them on Thursday.

Oh I got the single beams. I don't like the idea of having more things to go wrong and high beams aren't really needed. I do have two light tabs on my bumper i plan on installing some off-road hids to later. They'll be my high beams.

Bringing this thread back to it's original question.

Are you guys that are running these HIDs - are you using the stock halogen-style housing? What is the beam pattern like? Hotspots? Pictures?

I made a set of headlights from some range rover projectors. The biggest difference of putting retrofit hid's into a halogen reflector housing is the beam cutoff. The reason hid retrofit headlights usually blind oncoming traffic is because there is much more light output with the hid and the halogen reflectors lack of ability to control where the light needs to go.

Just projector fogs.

ALL PICS ARE BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO ADJUST BEAM PATTERN EXACTLY. AND ALL PICS TAKEN ABOUT 20' FROM THE GARAGE.

Did some more lookin into the projector housing thing. I'm kinda bummed all the projector housings seem to run on H1 bulbs so the 9007 HIDs won't work if I decide to upgrade later. It's also a bit irritating that they're all Got LED and Halo lights which look a bit cheesy to me. I thought about changing my order to H1 bulbs (don't think they've shipped yet) and getting the housings but I think I'm gonna keep my stock housings for now. I'll report back with how my single beam 55W HIDs do with the stock housings.

I changed my projector h13 bulbs out for a set of 55w hid h13 bulbs. Still has the cutoff because of the projector but so much mor effective
