Hi Guys, I would really appreciate some help on this. I have a 2000 F250 7.3 Liter Diesel Super Duty Crew Cab. I have searched my owners manual high and low for the location of the AC relay; the manual is unclear, unless I am just plain dumb. I also searched online, but for the life of me I cannot figure out which one it is. NOTE: I am not talking about the AC Diode in location #36 under the hood. I'm talking about the black cube shaped relay with 5 spade contacts. I have checked all fuses. The blower and temperature adjustment control work just fine. I recently, 2 months ago, had the AC serviced (recharged) and all was fine. One day I started out as usual and the compressor would not kick in. It seems as though the clutch gap is OK and I see no signs of leakage in the system whatsoever. Sincere thanks in advance for any help!

Have you checked the high pressure switch on the a/c line? They are prone to go bad and lose contact there.
If you're in low ambient temps the conpressor won't run to keep from slugging the evaporator core. (On edit I see that you're in SC, probably not the issue). Did you test for power and ground at the ac clutch pigtail?
Thanks mueckster & trk98. I will check those things tomorrow. Do either one of you know at what "spot" that doggone relay is located though?
As you can see in this diagram, there is no relay. The A/C Clutch Cycling Pressure Switch controls the a/c clutch engagement cycle directly and the Refrigerant Containment (high pressure) Switch overrides the circuit when needed.
Small relay block under the hood, close to the driver. The trailer light relays are on the same block.
Rich, can you elaborate? The two small junction boxes, on my '01 truck, house the Trailer Tow B/U Lamp & Trailer Battery Tow Charge Relays and the ESOF #1 & #2 Relays.
Can the AC clutch kick in even if the ac is not turned on ? I smelt something odd got home popped the hood and the AC clutch had minor smoke coming from ac clutch i did turn my temp from midway to cold to stop warm air and the switch from floor/ dash to just dash as it was a nice day out and felt a bit toasty in the cab but before i check to make sure pump will turn to decide if i just replace clutch assemb or the whole pump or do i have a short that would melt the coil as to the burnt electric smell
If memory serves, the AC is switched on any time the mode switch is turned to the right aside from floor only mode. I will check my manual to confirm. Just to be sure your clutch is not jammed, unplug the clutch and see if it disengages.

Ah I'm old school as thinking goes as to the only time the ac pump gets any power is when the switch is ac or defrost . But it's obvious my magnetic coil is toast as to the burnt electrical smell it was faint the last couple miles home from going to town. I haven even began to dig in yet. As being so frustrated that I just fixed a few months ago a fuel pump short between the frame and the engine that took me a lot of digging and trouble ..

If the clutch is indeed burned out, you can replace just the clutch alone and not the entire compressor. This assumes the rest of your compressor is working okay of course. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
