Fmc I put new tail light sockets in the rear and cleaned the grounds. Now the rear brake and tail work correctly. The front markers still turn on when brake is applied. I replaced the sockets up front as well they were corroded badly. Also still no turn signals. The fuse is good and I get power to the flasher. One more detail the po wired the constant power from the radio to the constant at the brake light switch. I am running out of things to try. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks Evan
Are you saying that he powered the radio from brake light switch , or brake lights from radio power? Remember that on these trucks brake lights go through turn signal switch so that could be bad. Or it could be po's "improvement" to the wiring. I would start there and undo that first. I'm so glad no one "improved" my wiring in my truck.
Haha tell me about it. But I did start there and now the switch is powered by itself. He just spliced the radio wire in. The signal switch is it hard to replace and anyway to test?? Thanks for the reply
The front markers still turn on when brake is applied.
This means that either the brake lights are still not grounding properly, or there's some sort of short in the turn signal switch. In the case of the former, there could be an issue with how the sockets themselves are grounded to bed sheetmetal, or the bed itself is not grounded properly.

This could be related to the above issue, or the sockets were not wired properly.

Thank you. You have answered my question once again. I tried jumping the ground from the battery to the lights with no luck. I guess it's time for a new turn signal switch. And I fixed the radio today. Po's do some crazy things.
