Brake light issue
I did a continuity test on the output wire on the brake switch and it looks like it is wired to ground but it doesn't blow a fuse when I use the brake. Could it be a problem with the turn signal switch?
Also I would like to mention that ALL of the other lights work (Except the license plate lights, which are missing)
Picture of the turn signal switch
I forget - does the brake light switch control the positive side or the negative side of the circuit? Thought it was positive on these old Fords, but it's been a while since I've had to mess with one.
The brake lights do go through the turn signal switch, but you want to make sure that the bulbs and sockets are truly good before proceeding much further. The sockets have been known to go bad. You can test continuity from the contact back to its wire, and be sure. Also you can pull the connector off of the brake light switch and make sure the switch makes continuity when the pedal is pushed down.
That said, my old '68 Cougar lost its brake lights, and I traced it to the turn signal switch. I ended up running a jumper wire in the switch to get my brake lights back.
And welcome to FTE!
