hey guys so i got on a while back and asked for advice with a thrown cylinder plug, i have an '02 150 4x4 with a 5.4 V8 with 143xxx miles on it,a few months back it threw the number 7 cylinder plug, ive since replaced it, and even gotten a rethread kit for it, the fact still remains that for whatever reason the compression in cylinder 7 is too high and is still forcing out the plug, causing misfire upon start up, frying the ignition coil pack and wire, and causing major shuddering around highway speeds, not to mention the terrible amount of exhaust that pours into the cab due to the lack of a proper seal and the plug coming out, when i used the rethread kit, i also used a threadlocker to hold the new plug in as i dont have the cash to continuously replace the plugs and ignition coils, as they are fairly expensive, cant remove the plug now so i figured it might be easier to replace the entire cover that the cylider plugs sit in, (i apologize ahead of time for my lack of nomenclature of the all the different parts of an engine, i grew up under the hood of vehicles but never took any classes, so everything i know how to do is from trial/error experience so i dont know part names or anything like that, please forgive me for that fault, i learn little by little as time goes on) anyways i figured rather then fighting to just save that one plug, it would be easier and cheaper in the long run to replace the entire thing that houses the cylinder plugs, with new gasket, plug housing, plugs and ignition coils, anyone knoww where i might be able to get the parts, rough estimates of cost, for the gasket and plug housing at least, i can get the plugs and ignition coils, and any advice for doing it if anyone has any previous experience with such things. all help would be greatly appreciated, i love this truck and have a lot of time blood and money invested into it and would like it to be running at peak performance again.
