A friend of mine 2002 ford Escape blew a plug- twice. Helicoiled, the spark plug stayed in but the tip burnt right off just like a torch went at it. V6 number 6 cylinder. I am wondering what could cause this. Thinking the mechanic left something in the cylinder or somehow there is an Oxygen problem in the cylinder ( thinking the way a cutting torch works) Dumbfounded. Any ideas? I told him I would write here and see if the boys here could help. This is the brain network for vehicles
May I'm reading be the wrong plug - ? It happens only on the cylinder that was worked on.
Double-check it is the right plug for the engine, heat range and physical length can be different on different spark plugs even if it has the same thread diameter and top dimensions.
