2010 Escape Limited
I'm thinking of buying this vehicle from a used car dealer and test drove it. When the heat came on there was a smell of french fries. It also had condensation on the front windshield but there was snow on the floor mat which had partially melted. I was wondering if its something wrong with the air/heating system or ductwork because it didn't smell before the heat came on.

I would suspect the heater core is seeping. Not large enough to get the carpet wet, but enough to produce odor. Before you sign, see what replacement cost would be as in some the A/C has to be evacuated and disconnected to remove the heater core. That is not an inexpensive repair.

Thanks guys. It's probably the core. I'll see what kind of warrantee I get & if it's covered. I've replaced several on my other vehicles but don't have a manual on this one. Anybody try it?
