Heater core question
Just checking to make sure 1997 f 150 4.6 4wd. I have started smelling antifreeze in the cab of the truck. I haven't detected a leak. is this usually a sign that the heater core is bad? Thanks

If you smell anti-freeze, it's most likely the heater core.
I never had any anti-freeze on my floor when mine went.
I had the smell, and after a few days I started to see steam from the vents.
Unless it's a major hole, you may not get anything coming inside.

Heater core question
Thanks for the reply. That's what I figured. I was hoping one of you old sages would have told me otherwise because I was really hoping I didn't have to remove the heater core. They are not as easy as they used to be. One more question. I have read some great posts concerning the heater core by other members. I am thinking of tracking down a shop manual and include the posted information. Do any of you know a good site to obtain a manual. Thanks

A member did a write up a few years back that was very helpful when I changed my core. If you would like it PM me your email. When my core went in my 97 the passenger floor never got wet, I smelled it and had steam from the vents.
