2007 4.0 timing belt issue

I think the timing belt broke on my 2007 4.0 6cyl that has 99k on it. Is this an interference or noninterference motor?

No timing belt, it's a chain. What is it doing?

Yes - I miss spoke. I believe this trans has 3 chains? My wife was driving at approximately 35mph when she heard and felt a bang, she says the vehicle jolted almost like it slammed into gear. The vehicle dash warning lights, including check engine, came on and the motor stalled. When I got to the truck and turned the ignition it kind of ran for a couple of seconds and did not sound smooth at all and made a pressure release type of sound. I'm totally guessing the problem may be a chain.

Offbeat chance it could have blown a spark plug out of the head.
I was told it is an interference engine.
Mine didn't make that noise but didn't have enough power to drive. My chain didn't break the guides were broken.
Sounds like it did jump timing.

I don't think it would start at all if the chain were broken.

I would agree, if the chain broke it would be doubtful the engine would run at all, though that might depend on where the break occurs. That motor for that year does not have a history of breaking chains, I think your issue is something else.
