Stopped to get gas the other day since I was down to less than 1/4 tank. Filled up & when I got back in & stared the truck gas gauge wouldn't work.
Any ideas?
This is a 78 dually F350, 460 & auto trans & I feel a bit uneasy driving it around without a gauge.
We all know that you have already attempted this as the first step in actual troubleshooting, right? ...Disconnect the wire at the sender's terminal and ground it. Movement?
Hopefully you have made an effort to calculate average fuel economy for this truck? Assuming you have done this, you can watch your odometer and fuel up accordingly.
While this doesnt fix the problem, it offers some comfort
First thing I did was write down the mileage when I realized the gauge wasn't working & figure about 8 mpg.
I did pull the filler tube to make sure I got the fuel I paid for.
Will pull the sender wire tonight when I get home.
Thanks guys.
