is my fuel gauge working?

ok i hooked my fuel gauge to my front fuel tank on my 86 f250. my gauge originally wasnt working but when i touched the wire that goes to my front tank to the one that goes to my gauge the needle moved up above the E line but not very much it was still almost on the E line. idk how much fuel i have in it i wont know till i get more after christmas. but what i was wondering was if this is a sign i hooked my gauge up and if this means its working

I'd say the gauge is reading something now - how accurate it is you will soon find out, but it definitely reads something.
