Ok, I have excessive amount of yoke slop on the output shaft. I pulled the driveshaft and the output shaft wobbles pretty bad. The yoke has no wear on the surface. Don't know how bad the rear bushing is?
Should the output shaft by itself wiggle around unsupported? Or should it be pretty stable by itself? I'm sure I can pull the tailhousing and just replace the bushing but not sure that is the root cause. If the output shaft is wobbling due to bad bearings then the bushing will just get beat up again. Truck has 150K miles, bought it with 80K miles and looks like someone might have replaced transmission? There was a tag wire hanging on the tailhousing mount holes like maybe a reman?
The truck has a shake that is very noticeable around town. On the highway not so much. Really annoying.
The tail housing bushing keeps the shaft still, there will be some movement of the output shaft without the yoke. You should be fine by just replacing the bushing and seal.
All stock, nothing has been altered. Got the bushing/seal kit today, tool on the way.
Both u-joints are nice and tight still. Just replaced pinion bearings due to being loose. I think that is what wiped out the tailhouse bushing. Should know by the weekend if everything is back to good.
