Should there be any play where the driveshaft begins at the back of the transfer case? Moves like 1/8th inch in any direction. I think im just going to bring my driveshaft to the driveline place i use and have them replace the other 2 u joints and the carrier bearing
Nope, that much play is certainly not normal. 1/8" is quite a lot for an output shaft, and I'm surprised the seal isn't leaking with that kind of play.
It may be play in the u joint i was feeling, not entirely sure on that one. But i think it may have been that disc that is on the back of the transfer case, felt like it was moving a little

Hrmm, interesting. Sounds like some U-joints may be in your future. I may be doing the same to my Town Car this weekend. Wanna come up and have a U-joint party?
I need to acquire the u joints first, i had a driveshaft shop in east hartford replace the rearmost u joint already but i bought it before hand. His price for spicer u joints was actually cheaper than the cheapest one i found online though

Do you have a CV u-joint on the drive shaft that connects to the transfer case?
And you guys are thinking its a u joint from the squeaking while rolling right? Not the noise in the transmission
The squeak squeak squeak screams dry u joint to me.
Didn't get the v10 into the shop to see what my my t case/transmission sounds like as the old ranger needed some tlc.

And i shouldnt have said that it has play, in that sense. What i meant was you can spin the driveshaft back and forth about 1/8" and the tailshaft or whatever spins a little. It doesnt move up/down, left/right at all
