Just got off the phone with REDHEAD, 28 units sold. So, $40 off units less than $300. $50 off off units more than $300. Your discount will be credited with your core refund when they receive your old unit back. Great job everyone that participated and those that talked it up or gave it a bump, (intentional or otherwise).
It is pretty. However, I just ran into a problem when I was getting my core ready to ship - I can't get the pitman arm off to save my soul. I have the right puller and it won't do it. Nor will a combo of puller and pickle fork.
After quite a while of working on it I checked and the gear box and pitman arm will fit in the shipping box. So, I called Redhead and they said I can return it with the arm on. Oh yes, I have several spare boxes and arms, so don't need this one.
My usps box was actually in pretty good shape when mine arrived. Arrived on wednesday but post office didn't sort till today. Installation went pretty well today. New gearbox and Borgeson steering shaft. This truck hasn't driven this well since Ive had it, (9 years). Hope everyone is as happy as I am.

And so it seems we have 28 more happier steering wheel holders!
Congrats to you all.
I got my Red Head in Dec 2012 and up to then, I had lost interest in driving her much, no fun chasing the steering. Ever since, she's fun and that's lead to me fixing other issues and I was thinking tonight how much smoother she runs, sounds, pulls, (because of more fun after the RH steering box, I got motivated to sort the carb / timing / shifting / lights / exhaust / etc) and other stuff as well as just steer better (13 months later still enjoy the change up on a truck I've owned since 1986).
I was having a problem with this today as well. It's like pullers dont pull. SO...I went full hillbilly on it and started prying. Oh yes. It worked.
I had the bright idea to tap one of the chisels from my air hammer in there, then tap around the arm to loosen it up. Worked great, but the second time I tried it, I stuck my fat head in there to get around to the other side and the chisel went flying out straight into my face.
One split lip later I once again realized that if there wasn't a "Hard way," to learn, I wouldnt learn anything.
There was more cussing than blood and there was a lot of blood.
BUT, the new box is installed. I havent driven it, as I was already in the middle of quite a bit of other work, but just sitting in the seat and moving the wheel I can tell a HUGE difference.
I found something kind of scary, though, that I wish I'd discovered back in '99 when I bought this thing. The upper steering shaft, where the U-joint is, had no bolt holding it on! It came off in my hand. I wasn't even driving, and it gave me the puckers. Apparently that's the only portion of the vehicle I havent fingered till now.

I too discovered that I had been driving dangerously. Upper steering shaft was DD, lower part of ujoint was 3/4" 36 spline. There was a clamp bolt but still, kinda makes your hair stand up, (on my neck, none on my head). I also think I have 2wheel drive column because column ends right at the firewall. Steering shaft was 2 1/2" too short. Had to buy more shaft to get it to fit.
Maybe Ive just been lucky but Ive always done well on pitman arms. Tighten my puller with impact, give the arm a good rap with two pound on the side, not on the puller or between the arm and box.
When I installed mine, I used a puller tool set from Advance Auto Parts loaner tools, set it up on pitt man arm and tightened real good and just let it set under tension while I did something else, heard a small "pop" after a few minutes and it was free.

Now thats the way to do it! Im gonna try that next time.
Has anyone gotten thier core charges back yet, My core was recieved on wed but so far nothing on the return. I was just wondering if it took a day or two.

I think the credit showed up on my CC a couple or three days after they got the core, I was checking on line with CC co, I had sent the core back in a largest "if it fits it ships" box with padding and a whole bunch of clear package tape all over it. I'm sure they have to take some time opening boxes and looking at core as different models have different core values.
Glad y'all like the new box .... I still enjoy mine, wonder why I didn't take the plunge years ago.
