Can a flush be done over a couple days safe?
How long can the VC-9 be run in the system and can it just sit?
Running without Therm. for a few days?
I live just 15 miles from work, so no long trips.
Couple of days wont hurt it but even at 15 mikes the truck is just getting to operating temps. Probably need to find an excuse to drive it a little more. Whats the temps there?
Don't leave the VC-9 in the system for more than 3 hours. Once it goes in, you have to flush it back to water within 3 hours. Excuse my awful chemistry for a second, but I'm pretty sure it's an acid, or at least corrosive, and will attack gaskets, seals, and soft metals if left in too long.

Seems like I read it on the bottle of vc9 it wouldnt hurt anything if you left in there a couple of days if your not driving it enough to clean on a single run. Might be wrong, wouldnt be the first time.
I don't have my old bottles in front of me, but I would have sworn VC-9 said don't leave it in. I've never used the Restore products, so I've only seen that one bottle, and seem to recall it. Meh, I've been wrong before. Blame it on the old-timers.
Dump system. Remove thermostat. Remove little return line from radiator to degas bottle and return line from EGR cooler/intake manifold to degas bottle. Hook a hose to each spot (nipple on radiator and nipple on EGR/intake) and run them over the front of truck. Start truck. When you see clean water coming from hoses, it's completely flushed. Keep a constant supply of water going in degas bottle (water hose or dump deionized in). Simple and quick way to flush. Did this for a friend. He didn't care what type of water went back in.
One more concern I have now. I did not wait for my truck to cool down (does anyone). And half way drained, I thought "I cant put cold water back in". I plugged it back up and waiting now for it to cool.
