Sorry if this was covered somewhere already but I could not find the exact info i was looking for with a search. I have a 2005 Exp. and I am having issues with the Advan trak and ABS. The question I have is this... I picked my Exp up awhile back from the trans shop and the Advan trk light came on. I turned around and went back to shop and the owner told me the light had been on since they had it. It was not on prior to the trans going out. The guy at the trans shop said it appeared the tow truck driver hit the rear speed sensor with the hook when securing the Exp on the roll off. He stated he tried to bend it back in place and thought it would be fine. I haven't worried much about it the last several months but I want to get the system working right again due to the fact the auto 4x4 is not kicking in and I believe this is the cause. I checked with my local advanced auto and autozone and both say they can't read the ABS codes. I called the shop I usually buy tires from and they do have a code reader but stated they normally only pull codes when they are doing repairs. He did however tell me that the rear sensor has a certian gap that has to be maintained. He explained it kinda like a spark plug gap and said that if it was bent that could be causing my issue. The questions I have are 1 does this sound logical 2 How would I know if i had the right gap if I change the rear sensor? Thanks in advace for any replies!!
THe gap is preset, not adjustable. You could think of it like a spark plug.. One good whack and bend it ??? Cant be bent back, its done. There is 1 small screw with a 8 mm(?) head that you remove, then pull the probe out. It has an o-ring seal so can be a little tought to pull. There is a 2 pin connecter to the harness. Check that the harness is not brpke or pins damaged.
