USB Question

Been trying to figure out how to install some USB connections to plug all the "stuff" (Garmin, IPhone, IPAD, hotspot etc...) into. I can't find anything except cigarette lighter plugins.

Anybody done this and come up with a solution?

i have a USB port in my radio,i can charge my phone, load a flash drive and play all the music i want.on one 4gb flash drive i went from Lethbridge AB to California and back home never played the same song twice.
I would never buy another radio that doesnt have a USB port.

Great idea Roy! I may look into that as an option as well.

It had never occurred to that there may be some USB options for my truck. It's the old six volt positive ground, but it seems to me that I should be able to get the 5 or 3.3vdc I need for USB devices out of it. Anyone with electrical engineering knowledge that can say whether or not this might work?

I'm no engineer but I agree you should be able to use a converter and get what you need outta your 6 volt truck.

Here's how I did it with Bob Jones' instructions. It works perfectly.

A year or so ago I engineered and posted a DIY USB Charger for your USB devices that works with 6V and 12V trucks that may be what you are looking for:
