Well at least we got some more ideas to check for. Only reason I'm not thinking it to be the thermostat is he's on the second new one in two weeks. I don't think he would get two bad ones in a row but ya never know. Think I'm gonna start with check-in the degas bottle for cracks and then the radiator for plugs. Thanks everyone I'll let him know and see what he finds out. Thanks again I'll keep everyone posted as he hopefully fixes the issue!
How about the degras bottle cap. Maybe not keeping pressure? Just saw a video where this happens and things can get hot due to the incorrect pressure. The fluid needs pressure to keep the boiling point higher, just spit ballin' here...
I told him to go into the dealership with his VIN and make sure he gets the correct thermostat. He said his coolant is completely full right now and when he goes uphill heater blows cold air. Double checked the fluid and full right now.
Possibly lol I'm sure he'ok end up taking it in and getting it fixed by someone. Maybe then we'll figure out what the deal is. If it's a thermostat, guess who's buying the beer haha
I just started having the same issues with my 99'. The scary thing is I watch the oil temp hit 200 and coolant spike to redline then come crashing back to normal and finally get heat from the heater. Funny thing is I never had a problem in summer. With the tempratures outside I think Im going to be forced to take it in and have it fixed.
