Question HELP WITH HEADLIGHTS OR ALL LIGHTS

OK HERE WE GO 1996 F150 220,000 on it the headlights and only the headlights come on when I pull the switch all the way. Parking lamps won't work at all. If I move the switch in between where the headlights should go off and the parking lamps should be on everything works. I replaced the headlight switch and that's not the problem. Turned my hazards on and my left rear wasn't blinking but my 4x4 light was and the truck is 4x2....oh and I put new bulbs in the rear lights just to be sure. I think there is a bad ground somewhere??? anybody have this problem?

Your on the right track with the ground, the one from the firewall to the block can cause all sorts of trouble

No, that's got to be a ground problem. The blinky stuff is circuit feedback.

Go from the battery to the cab next. After that, find the ground next to the fuse box and run a good wire from the battery to it. After that, I'm not sure. Others here will be glad to help also.

Did you look at the plug for the headlight switch?

They get hot melt and deform causing problems with lighting.

I'd look at that that and if find no problem there I next thing I might suspect be the multifunction switch.

Truck's telling you she wants a 4x4 conversion.

Seriously though, I can see this being a case of one or more circuits having lost a ground, so now they are grounding thru whatever else is available such as lamp filaments.

I wish I had detailed schematics on hand like some other members... then I could take a better look. Think it's time for me to get a Ford manual...

Question

Ok, tested all grounds and everything is good. Sometimes as I said the left (driver side) brake light won't work so i'll put the left blinker on and boom it works....i've heard the turn signal switch does fail, and the ones I see in the parts stores are for auto trans only, mines a stick think it will work?
