2008 Escape, while driving, the doors will lock/unlock themselves like crazy. Sometimes it's 20 times, others it's 100 times. Sometimes it won't happen for a day or two, sometimes it's everytime I drive it. When the car is off, remote works fine, car stays locked. Any ideas where to start?
The 'smart junction box' SJB is where the locks are controlled. I would suggest getting it checked. There may be spurious grounding or powering taking place on the wires to the door panel switches which signals the SJB to lock/unlock. The master switch on the armrest might have its wires chafing.
I had the locks cycle one time over the past 3 years, and I did not investigate further as it did not re-occur. The SJB responds to 3 things I can think of. The armrest switch, the remote, the auto-lock when in motion, and the signals from the keypad on the drivers door. There might be a check that the Ford diagnostic machine can check better as each SJB is programmed with the 'as built' equipment, and can not be swapped to a new unit until re-programmed or it won't work properly. I'm pretty sure they can query it as to what's going on.

Thanks. I think this will be a dealer fix! I will check for obvious exposed wires, etc first.
