Interesting.

I had a Mini 14 that jammed frequently after I lubed it with WD-40. Washed off WD with acetone, problem solved.

WD is great for cutting and drilling aluminum, but I quit using it for anything else over the years.

Seems like anything that comes in a spray can has problems now and then these days. Annoying because it means wasted product or a mess and inconvenience. If I had to guess probably related to propellant changes because of do gooders. WD40 used to have propane or something like that, and was popular as a starting fluid and to seat tires on rims. Not sure if it works in these applications anymore. Anyone know?

WD40 is basically nothing more than a light distillate of kerosene and perfume in a spray can. It is a great solvent and displaces water, but it isn't a good lubricant. Great for cleaning firearms, but won't provide more than a day or two of rust protection, and that's pushing it.

I know when I was messing around with my Yanmar, WD-40 did not help with starting. I wound up using some gas on a rag, it's an IDI so if you use starting fluid it could blow the prechambers out and open up a whole other set of problems.

I buy a case of WD at a time and most of the cans go dead before they empty. I chalked it up to old or cold, maybe a propellant change. Even the ones at work go dead.

I am going to switch if it continues
