ANOTHER TRANS PROBLEM!!

My truck started to shift super hard. Drove it to work, was fine. Jumped in it after work and shifts super hard in every gear every time. Its not as hard as limp mode but just about there. No flashing lights on the over drive. No trouble codes in computer. I disconnected the battery for 20 min to try and erase the computer any way, but still shifts hard. Don't know where to go from here. I have replaced the byro sensor about 3 months ago because of a code in the computer. About 3 years ago I replace the sensor in front of the motor on top, the big nut with 2 wires coming out of it. Any help is great thank you

I was having weird trans problems, and cleaning the electrical connectors fixed it. There's the one on the passenger side of the trans, then follow the wiring up and there are connections on the drivers side inner fender under the steering shaft. Those were the culprit in my case...

My trans shifts hard too; hard enough to make the door-panels creek. I've tried replacing and adjusting the TPS which helped a little but I still brace myself for the shifts or I let off the gas-pedal when its about to shift. I'll try cleaning the connectors and see if that helps also. Thanks for the tip.

yeah, pay extra time focusing on the one at the pass side guys.it's that time of year where water, slush, road grime etc can make it's way into the old bulkhead connectors.

remove that shield^ (two 8mm? bolts if iirc.be sure it goes back on when done.)
unclip it and inspect both sides.use a mirror to look down into the female side.flush the heck out of it with electrical cleaner.let it set and then soak it up out.mine was so bad i had to keep cleaning it.finally i pulled the sob and just replaced the whole pack.once i had it out,i could see the 20 yr old corrosion went deep down the pins.
to save some $.if your pins appear real green with corrosion, try using something heavy duty known to remove corrosion cus the electrical cleaner can't handle it when it's so bad.just make sure it doesn't harm plastic or the o-ring!

same for the male/truck side of the clip.flush it out with e-cleaner and if you see any bare wires you need to replace the plug.if you need one google:
E40d repair harness.
(you need the one listed for 89-94)

once the e-cleaner dries, pack the crap out of both sides with dialectic grease and be 100% it fully clips.
good luck guys.

probably a good idea to check the trans fluid level too

ok I tried all that. still nothing. I shifts hard in all gears every time. still no codes or flashing over drive light. I drove it to get it warm to see if it changed anything, same cold or warm (about 150 degrees)

I tried to find codes from a scan tool. Is there another way to pull codes that I should try?

do all the shifts appear to be extra late too Dean? or are they all shifting on time but just hard when they do?
the level is good? do you service the trans from time to time? whens the last time the fluid was changed? is there any reason to suspect dirty fluid causing sticking valves? do you know your TPS setting values?

oops, and nothing obvious either right? like a speedo and tach needles reading anything other than perfectly smooth?
you know, the atsg pdf shows it can be (and iv read and seen pics.just recently actually as i was just researching shift kits) broken and or tangled springs in the accumulator body too:

Shifts seem on time. I had a tps issue a while ago and is fixed now. I change the trans filter about once a year, with the last time this summer I will pay attention to the spedo and tach

I took my truck to the trans shop, and they said the pressure regulator was bad, or sticking. On the way home I saw my speedo jumping a couple miles per hour on the freeway. Not sure if it was from the bumps in the road or my speedo sensor. I posted a video to see what you think. Is there an easy way to free up the pressure regulator?

Tried the speed sensor with no luck. So sounds like that pressure regulator is bad. Is that easy to get to? Any special tools or know how needed?
