What troubles me about this thread is that a bunch of people are running down the creator of this rig because it isn't stock, or because it's ugly. What about a lot of other trucks posted here. Many, most?, are anything but stock. And remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The person that created this rig must have thought it looked really great. Isn't that what modifying your truck is all about? Personal expression? Just because somebody's idea of attractive is different than yours doesn't make it wrong.
+1 to island time. I wouldn't say any of the mods on the truck are ugly just maybe out dated. A lot of the stuff done to it was cool when the truck was new but not now. Granted I do agree that the seat does look pretty bad. If I would have wanted to add leather seats I would have just had the stock seats recovered
With the R code for the engine in the VIN I would lean more towards a Lightning someone swapped a flare side bed on to somewhere along the line or as I stated earlier since it was somewhat late in the production of Lightnings for that year it could have been possible for someone to have had one special ordered from the factory that way. I couldn't find a VIN decoder that would tell the code for style side or flare side to tell. It is possible to special order vehicles outside of standard factory options. It is quite expensive though. I worked at a Nissan dealer for a while and we had a guy come in wanting to special order a Cube in Chicane Yellow(the yellow on a Z). It was going to cost him about 3k to have it done that way plus the 500 ad for the color. I had another one where they ordered an Altima with the wheels off a Maxima
