Scan diagnostics avaiable for 90 E250 ?

Scan diagnostics avaiable for 90 E250 ?
i would like to find a diagnostic scanner for my 1990 E250 .
I would imagine, if there are any for this year, there may be a couple versions of scanner choices. EG: One might just do basic engine alone. Another might do engine codes and ABS and so on.
1- Any recommendations as to what scanners are good choices for my vehicle?

2-I need a good 101 for dummies on scanners too. I could just start googling,but maybe some of you can direct me to a general site first which would speed it up a bit for me.
