oil cooler temporary fix

dose anyone know if there is a oil pressure plug or port i can hi-jack to adapt a air to fluid plat cooler just to help with the temps till i get the cash to full tear down so atleast 3/8 or larger im thinking a 5/8 port would be great but i don't want to starve anything of oil doing this and yes i see the kits but that's not the $$ i have to spend thanks for any info

I dunno about that. Have you tried back flushing the oil cooler yet? It "might" help, and pretty cheap to do.

The '03 EGR coolers hold up better than the square one on the laters models. However, if your oil cooler has blockage in the coolant passages, you risk the EGR cooler rupturing. The coolant goes through the oil cooler - cools the oil - then leaves there and goes directly to the EGR cooler. Inadequate coolant flow through the EGR cooler can cause the EGR cooler to get very hot from the exhaust running through it. It can get so hot it cracks internally, and you have coolant going in the intake via the exhaust path, then it goes into the combustion chamber....then bad things happen.

Just a heads up....I don't know if you knew that.

If you doing the work yourself, the oil cooler kit with gaskets is only $250. If you want new gaskets for EGR cooler and intake add another $140. With no EGR cooler/delete, STC fitting or standpipes/dummy plugs on your early engine, fixing it with factory parts may be less expensive than you are thinking.

well as an update i believe i got my oil cooler unclogged theirs a plate behind the oil filter and once jimmed from under the turbo via T-35 bit with wrench and some tape low and behold oil cooler so after seeing that it was 100% pluged so i figured id try an old radiator fix now i dont want to hear that it dose this or that its done and ill let u know what happens but i mixed up some meratic acid and tested a few coolant pieces aka(rubber hose some plate and cast stuff and a old gasket and saw almost no effect on any of it after a good rinse..... so at 15cc a shot i poured it strait into the oil cooler and boy it foamed and foamed for 10 mins then id trickel water to dilute once safe id stick the hose in the hole and give it full prussure after 5-10 times it was flowing as much water as was going in so poped it back together and have not seen a temp go past 222 coolent holds 190-188 and oil after warmed and running float about 216 but stays at 188-198 fro a good long time now i know it might be runied but then i have an excuse to pull it apart and i still plan on doing the oil bypass cooler as an ACC ill update

I have no idea WTF you just said.

I'm guessing you removed the coolant outlet cover on the oil filter base and backflushed from there? The cover over the nipple that attaches to the EGR cooler hose?
