I'm guessing you removed the coolant outlet cover on the oil filter base and backflushed from there? The cover over the nipple that attaches to the EGR cooler hose?

Wow, really?

Going 1500 ( or 5k, etc.) doesn't mean what you did is going to result in a healthy engine in the long run.

Glad it's working for ya, post back in a couple of months and let us now if it leaking anywhere. I actually though of trying that and we've had some discussion about it, but I would have pulled it from the truck first and by the time you're that far in a new cooler is just a guaranteed repair.

As far as not using the 6.0 forum again, that's up to you but I will say this. Many of us here are older guys that have years of experience, and generally we are a pretty polite bunch. We aren't going to recommend doing anything too far off the wall because there are all different levels of people posting here and sometimes it takes a few posts to figure out what their experience level is. I understand where you're coming from I think, read some of your other posts (I liked the turbo install on the 7.3 BTW) and it's cool to read someone's post that think outside the box like you do. However, posting that we don't know which size wrench to use (or what ever that was in one of your early posts) isn't going to get much positive feed back. There are guys here who could eat most people's lunch turning wrenches and engineering stuff, and steal their girl find when there done.
I hope you hang around and post some more but If you want to be combative there's a special forum for that (diesel bombers).

thank u rusty ... i was kinda scared it was just a buch of young guns here with a whole lota **** and vinegar ... i agree if i pulled the turbo off and intake and egr and ect and so on till i got to the oil cooler i just bought this truck and it has 240000 miles on it i rebuilt my entire 7.3IDI for what the gasket kit costs for this 6.0 so for what i had wrong i could not justify that not even know if that my only issue ... i dont like rebuilding motors for a 3 dollar bearing so i need it fixed fast that meant no opening the motor and ill make sure i keep it updated. also my external stand alone cooling system would be a booster to the existing one then after the issue would a been fixed my cons are what i have something there that i don't need or 3-7 quarts more oil and 2 more oil filters than any other 6.0 ask the big rig guys the more oil that stays cooler for longer makes for a happy diesel for alota miles

What is your source for this? I bought a bunch at the grocery store, but it was $.99 a gallon. $60 for your fix is super sweet (I admit I didn't get all of how you did it) so, I'd appreciate knowing where to get this much distilled water for this price.

The aftermarket kits for remote oil coolers I've seen have a high dollar "redesigned" oil cooler cover to get the oil in and out of the engine. What are you thinking for supply and return connections?
