This might be common knowledge already but in case its helpful anyway.....
The radiator drain plug in some vehicles may resemble mine and if its damaged or breaks due age or over tightening all is not lost. In addition to the 3/4" external wrench flats there is a 5/16" or 8MM internal hex recess too. This proved quite handy recently and the parts seem to be readily available from Ford, p/n: FOAZ-81155-A, MSRP $7.79
That's really good info. Thanks for the heads up.
As many of those things as I've opened, I've never noticed the internal hex. Never had one break though...yet!
This one was no doubt original which means almost 12 years old and 254K miles---lots of age and heat stress on a single plastic piece. It removed very easily, probably relying more on the properties of the material to achieve a seal unlike a pipe thread. In fact it fits more like a bolt.
Just hoping this is helpful to someone down the road!
