Truck just died...Pulled 14 codes!
I was driving to work this morning and got about 1/4 mile from my house when it suddenly died with a wrench light. And it didn't nicely tell me to pull over first like some people get....it just stalled
After pulling codes, I found 14 of them! (8 unique..6 duplicates)
Normally I search like crazy for an answer, but I'm at a loss as what to search for here...
Here are the codes.
P0101 (twice) Mass or Volume Air Flow A circuit Range/Performance
P0003 (twice) Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Low
P0091 (twice) Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Circuit Low
P179a (twice) Controller Area Network (CAN) Engine Control Module (ECM)/Turbocharger Boost Control A Actuator Circuit Malfunction
P0488 EGR Throttle Control Circuit A Range/Performance
P0670 (twice) Glow Plug Control Module (CPCM) Control Circuit/Open
P0684 (twice) Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Communication Circuit Range/Performance
P0691 Fan 1 Control Circuit Low
So far, my thoughts revolve around either a burned or unplugged harness or perhaps a bad PCM or something. I'll get a chance to look at it tonight after I get home from work.
Truck is bone stock and has about 105000 miles. Just got back from a 1200 mile vacation with out issue but I haven't seen the dpf do a cleaning cycle in at least 2K miles. Oil filter and fuel filters changed about 4500 miles ago.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Dave

I'd definitely lean towards a damaged wiring harness, a loose or corroded connector or similar. Those DTCs are too disparate and all point to electrical faults as possible causes. Given that it's now winter the chances of mice nesting on your warm engine and chewing wires are higher as well.

Looks like its this...

Makes me want to kill myself (kidding) because its a cab off repair.
Going to start troubleshooting tonight. Ugh...I've only had this truck for 4 mths and about 4500 miles....for most of the time its had a check engine lights and I finally fixed all that but now this?....I hate this POS. I cant believe I didnt research enough to avoid this.
I think I should have bought a dodge.

I'll be checking that when I get home tonight. But I'm confident it will be blown. Thats what causes the additional codes.
I have a lift so I can do the fix at home but I really just dont want to be doing this type of job...I'm so angry right now.
I spoke with the diesel tech at a local dealer and he agreed with my quick assesment and thinks its the likely cause. (Of course he suggests I haul it there and pay the 100 for confirmation...I cant blame him for that) He has another one in for the same thing right now. $2500 bucks.
I can't believe that this isnt a recall. I also cant believe that ford would make a fuel pump so inaccessable that you have to remove the cab and the turbos to get to it. Can you possibly do something stupider? He also said much of the hardware that you remove is stainless to you spend alot of time drilling and tapping after it snaps off. He said its a solid 2 day job for an experianced tech.
A piece of info that I think I forgot to include above(for future searchers). My truck was manufactured 4/07 so its def likely to be affected by this.

This is what happens when you shoehorn a medium duty truck engine into a light duty truck (and uprate the HP and TQ from the MDT application as well).

I never updated that fuse 74 is infact blown.
I decided it was worth trying to replace and clear codes to see if I could get it to a dealer and save on towing.
When I went to clear the codes, I couldn't clear 6 of them or the wrench light which I'm hoping one of those 6 triggers.
I thought I read somewhere last week in my frantic googling of something you have to short out to clear the wrench light. Anyone have a clue? I cant seem to reproduce the search that gave me that result.
Thanks
