ball joint replacment ideas

Well having an 8 inch lift and 38's finally caught up to her.. Time to do the ball joints upper and lower on both sides.. So,,,,,,,,,, I know how to do it and I have all the tools.. My question is.. would it be easier to just remove the calipers and support them.. Undo the shock bolts, and spring bolts, drop the front drive shaft and pull the whole axle and take it inside or is that just adding more work then doing it by dropping th knuckles off. The reason I ask this.. My truck wont fit into any garage around here and I dont have one.. Or know anybody with a oversized garage door. Pull the whole axle and pull it into a garage or just bite the bullet and freeze outside..

In a round about way.. Im asking pull the whole axle and take it into a garage or just tough it out.. Its getting cold and they are calling for snow and ice.. I dont have a garage but i can pull th axle into my parents garage and do the work..

Just want to get your guys input on what to do..

I guess it depends on what you are willing to do. I'm kind of in the same situation as it is calling for ice and sleet Friday and I'm waiting on my seals to be delivered to repair a leaking hub on my driver's side.

I hate to pay someone to wrench on my truck when I'm able to do the repairs, but I'm not wanting to do the repair in inclement weather outside. When my seals arrive I will be pulling the truck in the garage with a heater.

I would wait for the weather to break or suck it up and pay someone to do the repair if it is needed now.

It is a very physical job, I did mine over the summer, I think I lost 10lbs in sweat.

Once the knuckle is off you can bring it inside to replace the ball joints.

My $.02 FWIW

How about get a big fridge box or bigger. Put the open end where the wheel is...Make a door...put in a light and elec heater and have a blast..Put a warm blanky on the ground. You could even put in a bar and have a brew when done LOL...Kinda like the phone guy's when they have a little hut around the wires when its cold.
Leave the axle on the truck..
