The switch from speed density to mass air flow was in 95 I believe. Worst case you would probably have to swap his upper intake onto your motor for the tps hookup. Take pics of both motors and compare to see if there are any differences.
Everything looks identical to me looking at both engines.
That's what I taught the switch was done in 95 or 96, but my parts truck being built in late 94, I guess it's still a speed density.
So the computers are the same? Only the intake related stuff would be different?
Oh also, another question. Heard quite a few times of people on here opening up their computer, and found it leaked electrodes or something....? Causing some weird problems, and running issues in some cases.
How do I do that? I guess the computer has a removable cover? How would I spot anything wrong with it just by looking at the brain of it?
It should be a direct swap. Regardless if the computer system is Speed Density or MAF the engine and the ancillary pieces are basically the same including the intake.
The computer issue you're referring to is a couple capacitors fail and leak onto the board. Most times it's repairable with some new ones from radioshack, digikey, etc as long as you or a friend can do some light soldering. There's a thread in the forum about it, just do a search for it.
When doing an engine swap it's best to avoid changing any of the wiring or the computer unless you are doing a MAF swap at the same time or changing engine types. There is nothing MAF or SD specific about any of these motors so they can be swapped from one system to the other pretty easily. In this case a '94 and '95 motor will be identical but there is no guarantee the engine harnesses are wired the same, so best to disconnect everything from the motor when removing it from the donor vehicle and re-attach it to the original wiring in the vehicle receiving the motor.
