Vacuum pump/leak
I occasionally hear my vacuum pump run when I turn on my ignition. How often do they normally run? Every thing seems to function properly. Is it normal for it to run if it were to sit over night, after two days? I haven't really noticed it much but now I'm sitting waiting for the glowplugs to do their job I've noticed it a couple of times and it had got me thinking about vacuum leaks.

Yes it should kick off when you turn on the ignition.
Perfectly normal to lose vacuum when sitting.
Alsp not to mention that if something "uses" it, the pump has to activate to make up for it.
I wouldntbw worry about it unless you're stuck on defrost.
