I have never found an IDI in the yard I go to here in Sarasota.I asked if they ever got any and they said "sometimes, we just crush them, there's no demand for the parts". So, the other day, there were TWO! 1-6.9 and 1-7.3 The 7.3 was in a bigass landscape truck, I don't know for sure but I think it's either a F450 or 550. the yard had it tagged as a chevy C30 lmfao! I asked about buying a complete engine and the dude quotes me the same price I would pay to pull an engine out of the 2014 f150, close to $1000. I told him he said there's no demand, how about cutting me some slack, I'll give you $500 cash. His answer was "if you want it, now there's demand, that's the price" what an a**hole.
The wreckers around me are fairly bad too, I tried to get an engine one time, guy said give him a day and he'd get it ready... two months later still wasn't on his "high money making list" apparently 800 bucks isn't worth his time then another yard I was looking for a part at said how much new is it, I said ford wanted 500 and its discontinued... he replied back well 400 and its yours I guess used is the new "new" wont be getting any business from me.
I also find people selling things local just as bad, they'll sell garbage for what something with no rust and runs should be sold for, and apparently everything is based off the price of gold too It's very aggravating

Whenever I deal with a CL seller or junkyard that isn't coming to their senses, I tell them the price I'm willing to pay, write it on my card, and hand my card to them. I follow it with, "When you don't sell this thing in two months, give me a call." About half the time, they call back, and I reduce my price by 25% for the hassle.
