Kind of O/T

Hey guys this is kinda off topic but i would like your opinions. Currently on my 250 4x4 sd I'm running 315x75x16r tires. When i bought the truck back in 07 it had an add a leaf installed in the front already. It rides so stiff as that leaf sits half way to the front and half way to the back. Its also rubbing into the stock springs. It squeaks and I'm tired of it.

I looked on ebay and found a Mini Leaf pack 3" leveling kit. My buddy has one on his rig and it rides WAY smoother than mine. Im doing bushings all the way around and while the springs are out I'm swapping out the add a leaf with the smaller leaf pack.

So im in dyeing need of tires. A buddy set me up with a good set of AE PVD Chrome 20's. $900 Shipped to my door. My dilemma is tire size. While currently my 35's fill out the truck very nice i was thinking about going back to a 33. I just hate to spend the money on the 33's and my truck look like its skying over the tires.

Anyone have a 3" leveling kit with 33's they would like to share a photo of so i can check out how it looks. I know i sound like a kid in high school but i like leveling kit and I'm just thinking the 33's will look way too small under the truck with the 3"

the truck is going to ride like crap with 20 inch rims.
with 33 inch tires, you will only have 6.5 inch sidewalls on the tires.
35's will give you 7.5 inch sidewalls.
compared to the current 9.5 inch sidewalls

while it does not sound like a big difference, the flex in the sidewall of the tire is what gives you the smooth ride. more sidewall better ride. less sidewall due to larger rims, harder ride.

X2 on that. I had to go with 18" rims and 275/65R tires and the ride was noticebly firmer as compared to my 16" rims with 33" tires. Why i "had" to go with 18" rims is in another thread of mine.

Ummm interesting. Two reasons for the 20's for me were 1 being the fact that my buddy got them for me really cheap. Seccond and this just a guess but with that much tire between the rim I'm thinking its causing some swaying and instability. I think the rim is moving around in the tire almost like a balloon. Bigger wheel with less tire/sidewall to me would seem like more stability.

Now i do agree with the rougher ride with less tire especially like a 33. But i could only get the 20's at that price not 18's. Im thinking i will just stick with the 35x12.5x20

Im going with the toyo open country A/T II. I got the open country m/t"s now and was very happy with the life i got out of them. 52k as of now and could probably go a few thousand more. But i never or rarely go in the mud and i want something quitter that still has some aggression.

Thanks for the help and if anyone wants to keep chiming in feel free

Same reason you see off road rigs with 15-16" wheels and BIG tires. Even dedicated off road rigs will have like 38" tires on 16" wheels.

Yes they do handle better, espsecially with my camper on the back. It is a compromise between a softer ride and a little better stability.
