I was thinking about that actually. One normal axle and one steerable axle.
The thing that's tricky is the automatic steer portion. The way a pusher steer axle works is almost like a caster on shopping cart. The pivot point is ahead of centerline of tire so that it follows the track of the truck. Hard to do that and also power it.
I'd say maybe a front axle like was posted earlier, but with a linear actuator and an encoder/reader on the steering shaft. May be an option.

OK so you are going to do the T_Rex thing. Gotcha. Actually a tandem under power turns easier than a tag or "dead-axle". We had a 67 F700 with a tag and it took 40 acres to make a circle. Robbed the twin screw out of another truck, put it in, and even with the power divider locked in it would turn inside the circle of the other set-up. What drive set-up would you be using?

I'm planning on using two d60s or maybe two disk brake 10.5s and then offset the pumpkins so the driveshaft can get over the first rear axle. Then a backwards divorce mount np205. I need to play with an np203 again, the full time center diff may work in my favor if I can power the rear output as the new input and it still works correctly.
Just gotta try it sometime.

I gotta' subscribe to this thread just so I can see what happens.

The T-Rex approach has some definite benefits that I can see; I'm just interested to see what the OP comes up with.

It was an amazing invention... A dealership by me rammed the rear into the building 3 times until they figured out the truck swung the *** around in tight turns.
A friend had one, said it backed a trailer up really awesome.

Elaborate a little more on this statement.
Do you mean a single Dana 80 or twin d80.
USA6x6 was known for using full floating 9" rears in their trucks, so if you're concerned about strength, you gotta ask what you're really trying to do with the truck. I'm thinking about availability and cost. I have the d60s and the 10.5s are getting cheap. The d80 is about the same strength as the ford 10.5, but if you're thinking about other alternatives the corporate 14 bolt is pretty stout.
I think it will be availability more than anything.

I got some clarification from a gm buddy of mine.
The quadrasteer, the high gvw (true hd 1500) and the 6liter 1500 (non ss) came with 8 lug wheels.

Well for my project I I was thinking I would want a more heavy duty frt n rear axle cuz I do see my self doing some small trail rides nothing major cuz of how ****ing long it will be So I gues u could use the drivetrain like that on a f450/550/650 on a 350/450 frame
Oh and I'm going dually not that two rear axel deal
