Guys, I don't know what model truck he has. However, doesn't the EGR valve have to be hooked up ONLY on the 2005 and up trucks. On the 2003 and 2004, it should not affect the fan operation. Please confirm.

Negative, all years.
Also, the VGT vane sweep also goes thru the EGR circuit.
To be totally honest, I'm just quoting you on this from a post this last June.
"But Since whatever you read there has been some Testing Done and Been Discovered that the Cooling Fan wont work right with the EGR VALVE UNPLUGGED Also the Turbo Vein sweep may not work at Idle
You need a Tunner that turned the EGR Valve off for what it sounds Like or this would shut it off
The Bottom Line is this as long as your Oil Cooler is within Spec you shouldn't Have the Dreaded EGR Cooler Blowout.
But If your Still Flowing Exhaust threw it you May Have Turbo Issues from Soot. That could be The Turbo Itself or one of the Sensors"
The student has become the teacher....just kidding, I still don't know much. I still haven't figured out how to link that post to this thread directly.
Question while towing 14,000 lbs toy hauler in the summer my oil temps seem to be on the high side to me (this is my first 6.0 ) I some times will hit 260 during a pull and hover around 235-250 coolant temps are around 225-230 is this normal for towing I have done the unloaded test at 65 and temps are where they need to be any thoughts ?
I experience very similar number this summer when towing. with my EGR plugged in,,, My new theory (yes theory) is that the water pump is showing signs of wear and not flowing enough. I have had oil to 251 and coolant to 238 not as high as yours but my 03 has never de-fuel'd.
It might a selective de-power. As some have reported no discernible loss of power and others report normal throttle until WOT.

It is what led me to get a scangauge. And find out I had 37 degree deltas. Towing my 35 ft TT in the keys, hit the peak hill of the seven mile bridge truck had no power. Once I got to camp the next day all was well. I can only make assumptions as I had no data logger. But that is what I think explains it. My 37 degree deltas were unloaded no doubt. Can only imagine how hot that oil got. I also remember the truck kicking out of cruise before this happened and getting abs light on the dash which is from rear speed sensor fault
