Coolant fan speed

I can't for the life of me find what rpms the coolant fan should be turning when the temps start to climb. Anyone who knows what the max is I would appreciate the info.

It's totally variable on several different factors, there is no set A+B+C=D that we can really reference. One thing though, with no A/C the fan will start ramping up speed around 217 degrees. With A/C on the fan behavior is entertaining.

The only thing to make sure of is the EGR is plugged in and the fan harness is connected and intact.

What makes you think something is wrong?

Not really sure. I just added the scangauge II and put in the x gauge settings for the FSS. I keep getting high temps at the end of some long grades towing a 5th wheel. The last time I didn't have the gauges, but I did hear the fan but it didn't sound as loud as normal.
Just a bit paranoid after just replacing the FICM and HPOP. The EGR valve was checked and was a bit dirty, but the mech said he didn't think it was that bad. He had seen a lot worse.
I looked to make sure the wires were plugged back into it and the fan connector was plugged. Now that I have the gauges, I wanted to know what to look for and didn't know about where the neighborhood of max would be.

My fan runs about 3500 rpm when the temp gets up to 220* and knocks the temp down pretty quick.

Need more info from you as what "high temps" you are seeing and what you are seeing for fan speed.

As Josh shared, there are so many variables, it's hard to give a "one size fits all" answer.

Edit: Ford shows a max operating range of the fan at 4000 RPM

Here is a post I did on actual data on fan speed while towing. Kind of hard to read, but you will see what I see.

I believe you covered what I was looking for. I haven't towed since adding the scangauges, so don't have any good data on that yet, but I kinda wanted to know what to be looking for when I went up another pass towing.
I especially appreciate the table, that really gives me some data to expect.
