What is it worth
he wife drives him around in here
CRV. She HATEs the bronco and doesn't mind the ranger.
Working on it
how did U hear of the vehicle/get over for a look?
"...'76 & '77..."
I would disagree w/them "being the best" due to issues moddin the frnt linkage
(those yrs. have the discs oe) but so what, no big deal to wrk around. I would want the '72, with the '66 doors/windshield, the '77 paint scheme, the...etc, etc
The completely stock ones are getting tough to find, but the truth is almost NO ONE wants a stock one anyway. These rigs are getting old and that means weatherstripping, wiring, dash pads, belts, hoses, gaskets, etc. are at or very near the end of their life span.
If it were truely like driving a 2013 vehicle off the showroom floor - sure it would probably be worth 15-20 thousand dollars, even with the AM radio, rear drum brakes, and poor suspension.
If you could get it for 4-6 thousand it would be a "good deal". Just keep in mind $1,200 for a good suspension, $1,500 for gears and lockers or limited slips, $1,500 for decent rims and tires, $300 for fender flares, etc. So you've basically doubled your investment and now you're getting it to be what people expect a Bronco to be.
A stock early Bronco isn't all that great.

Never heard of them. What are they know for restoring?

I just happen to stubble across it and inquired. I would feel bad cutting up one if it devalued by a lot. And for some of the prices I see some of these "uncut" ones bring. WOW
"This might hurt, but here goes"
I would of kept my mouth shut and asked him what he wanted for it. PERIOD
You might of offered way to much for it, not that you would be taking advantage of an old man, but you might of got it for a cheaper amount.
I am always the silent one when it comes to buying a vehicle, without a posted price, "no thanks, I wont make an offer, tell me what you want for it".
"Its your vehicle and your are trying to sale it for a number in your head and I am trying to guy if for as little as possible and I have a max # in my head I'll pay".
"You first, since you own it", if they insist I make them and offer I say "this might hurt, but here goes" then offer a amount lower than you will really pay and have a hand full of CASH to back up your offer. You are not low balling, you are getting the deal started, and it has to start somewhere. And the amount of $ can only go up for guy selling it and up for the amount you are going to be paying.
Reason being the guy might think its only worth 2500 and would like to get that much, if he tells you a price and its below your "I will pay this much #", he is happy since he got what he wanted and you might get a deal.
Sounds like a real nice rig and hope it works out for you. Snow plows can cause for a hard life on a vehicle, some times. An auto trans is not a deal breaker IMO.
EB (Early Bronco) are usually priced way above there real value. Because they are almost have a cult like following and everyone thinks they are worth a ton of money, but better than a jeep any day of the week. Set up right, they off road like a mountain goat on crack.
$3500 sounds like a REAL good deal, almost a steal. But wouldn't you rather get a good deal versus steal something?
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I actually inquired to him about selling it, not the other way around.
As far as making friend, this is not a dating site
And his is junk compared to the one I am looking at. Scale one to 10, this one is a 9.5. While gfw1985's has rotted rocker and that would put in tin the 5 or less area. So half as nice, yes.
I would rather have one on the lower scale. The one I am looking at is so nice, I would NOT cut it. Actually I would not do anything to it to take away from its originality
Personally the only reason I would not cut up and improve on an early Bronco is because I already had a couple that were dedicated 4x4's. The early Bronco is at it's best with some cutting type modifications.
It's a great base for an oustanding 4x4, but stock they leave quite a bit to be desired.
Yeah, the rubber seals are starting so split around the windows and doors.

Bronco owners taste vary like everything else. I'm not a purist, but do appreciate a survivor. Out of the six that I have owned, only two I deemed worthy of not cutting up. They are only original once. The 76 Explorer package with the one year only stripes was one of my favorites. My little 66 half cab, mildly modified, is the only one I will have trouble parting with. Hope you get the chance to give that Bronco a good home.
