Snow Plowing....Looking ahead
Got the plow package on my 250, and want to buy (probably) a Western plow for the front - mostly just for my 1/4 mile drive, my in laws 1/4 miles drive accross the road, and the parking lot of our family business. Nonetheless, I've noticed that brand new plows are quite expensive, but I don't seem to see a lot of "used' plows for sale. Is a used plow a bad idea? If so, why? Anyone ever bought one used, or am I not gonna find many? Any input is certainly appreciated. Seems a bit odd to pay big $$ for something thats gonna get dragged along the pavement during it's lifetime. Please advise, and thanks tons....
Just look over the frame and blade to make sure their not bent or been worked on. Make sure the pump and all wires and controlls are good and work fine.
Friend of mine just sold his 2 year old western v plow for $1400 bucks.
Like Yeti said, check it out thoroughly before you buy and don't look back.
The only problem is, they tend to really hold their value, so a good deal can be hard to come by.
If you've got a welder and some skills, it's fairly straight forward to modify the mounting hardware for your truck. Being able to do this will let you buy a blade that isn't necessarily designed for the SD if the price is right, and opens up a lot bigger market for you.

Anyhow, much appreciation, as usual. Now, I just gotta find me one....
