Just finishing up my semester so the past week has been intense study and not much else. As Wes said those two motors are prone to issues. I have been on FTE for almost 13 years. In saying that... at one time just mentioning flying spark plugs or bad 5.8 would get you a ban. "F" did not want to admit an issue.

John I like the rain but the snow would not have hurt my feelings one way or the other. Just messes with the budget as the Trailblazer drinks fuel quicker then the car does.

I think I'm just gong to keep the Liberty until the '53 is finished. If everything goes well, that should be in late spring. There's no point in making a payment while still spending hundreds per month on a project.

I got my radiator and heater core back. They beat the top radiator tank up pretty bad taking it apart. It's the first thing you'll see when the hood is up.

He said it couldn't be helped. He's a pretty good machinist so I'll take his word for it and live with it I guess. I'm thinking the new aluminum radiator might have been the better looking option. I went with the re-cored original because I thought it looked better. Oh well, best laid plans, right?

The new radiator core is four coils thick. It and the heater core look great. Other than the dents in the tank the quality is good. I think the flathead is going to stay cool, and the cab is going to stay warm. Warm in the winter that is.

Gives it character Ken!!!! It'll be original, not some aftermarket stuff. I like it.

It's a fat fendered '53 Effie, it doesn't need dented character. Oh well. Maybe people will be to busy looking at the pretty little aluminum headed engine to notice.

What about a small "cover" for it? Something out of thin sheetmetal to simply cover the top?

You and I are thinking along the same lines.

There is a rubber seal between the hood latch support and the top radiator tank. I'm thinking of making my own, tall enough to cover the front of the tank.

Ken, it'll look great no matter what you do!

As for a meet, I doubt that I can make one. Weekends are very busy with the kids for the foreseeable future.
