Sounds like a typical "frankenstein" reman engine. Two different heads for sure. With vastly different sized combustion chambers. Gotta real winner there. 84-up block, one 75-77 head, one 78-84 head, 77 casting intake.

Kelly hotrod - Ford Engines Page 3

Does your truck pull to one side under acceleration, like one side of the motor has bigger valves....

Same valves in both, but differerent chambers. The D8OE head's chambers are a full 10 cc's bigger than the D5 head. That's about a full point in the comp ratio just by a quick guess.

Dissimilar heads

I can't believe it either. Perhaps the D5OE is actually D8OE but the number is a bit smeared?

Another possibility is that the rebuilder skimmed off enough material from the D8OE head to make the combustion chamber size similar to the D5OE.

So I assume the intake and heads are off of this engine?

From the link in post 5, which is why I said they had different valves....matters not, they are different enough, valves or not. Yea, rebuild company really stepping up there quality wise....
