Fair price range to ask for my (wrecked) truck

My F250 was wrecked back in September. I purchased a replacement and kept the old one as well. (Bought back the salvaged truck so I could keep my lift gate etc.)

I've been trying to sell off the old truck, but I don't know what's a fair price to ask.

It's a 2000 F250, 5.4L, automatic, 2wd, extended cab, long bed.

Hit on the front left side. Frame damaged (I actually found a crack underneath the engine compartment.)

The radiator and fan got pushed back, and the motor might be off the mounts. I'm not sure yet. The serpentine belt got shredded.

I did get the engine to start one day, and again later long enough to shift into each gear so it has a functioning engine and transmission.

The (replacement) truck is our only vehicle and we really need another one right now, so I just want to liquidate the old truck and pick up an inexpensive car. I'd rather sell or trade it outright than try to part it out, as I don't have indoor storage to work in.

I'm just outside of Richmond Virginia. Here's one of my Craigslist ads:

2000 Ford F250 Ex, long bed. Parting out or sale/trade complete

What do you think it's worth complete, and what could I get for the significant parts? (Engine, transmission, seats, bed, GEM, airbags, doors and so forth...)

Thanks.

The hard part on getting a decent price for parting it out is getting the buyers to find you. When I am looking for something hard to find, I use the junkyards and ebay. (Found a computer from a wrecked car on ebay that saved me hundreds!)

If you part it out, it will sit around for a while and then you will have the remainder to haul off and sell for scrap. You might get more money that way, but is all the trouble worth the extra cost?

I would see if there is a shop that rebuilds salvage vehicles, and what they might pay for your truck. I think the rebuildable wrecks are usually auctioned - maybe your insurance carrier can tell you how they dispose of totaled vehicles.

Good luck!
