Truck Value
I think that last variable, namely the presence of an interested buyer (or better yet, two) sets the price more than anything else these days. You hear of really quite nice vehicles going for under a thousand, sometimes only a few hundred. And then somewhere else in the country, a rattletrap will sell for $1500.
What seems to universally clear -- no one ever gets out of a vehicle what he put in it. Restauration/renovation seems to be an invariable way to lose money. So you cannot set the price based on what you put in it, period.
I would pay attention to local want ads, newspapers, and see what others are listing similar vehciles in your area. I would NOT recomend eBay -- I think it is still primarily a market filled with vehicles that look good, but have bad defects that are hidden. Other buyers feel the same way, which means the selling prices are lower. If you put a truly good vehcile on eBay, you'll get less than its truly worth. And if you are selling a vehicle on eBay and "downplaying its defects" shall we say, well I say that borders on dishonesty.
Give yourself time -- trying to move it too quickly will almost certainly end up costing you.
